Just a tweak of the priorities and I can do it. Didn't help I got a new XBOX for Christmas so I will need to fight the urge to blow up alien races on REACH or defeat the darkness as ALAN WAKE... but I think I will manage.

I can't promise I will continue to keep this blog up like I have said many times before, but I will do my best. It's a new year. Perhaps I can keep those of you that follow our blog abreast of the comings and goings of our lives. Let's call it my resolution... update our blog and maintain those friendships I may have been neglecting the past little while. We are all busy, but there is always time for those we love and care about. Cheesy, yes..... but you know it's true.

Welcoming everyone back to the blog in 2011... hope you enjoy the rants, raves, mischief, and just funny antics of my boys, Kyrie, and myself.
So HAPPY 2011 EVERYONE!
Here's to the New Year!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joshandkyrie.blogspot.com/2011/01/and-another-one-bites-dust.html' title='... It sure has been a LONG time! When Josh mentioned that he wanted to start this blog to entertain with his writing skills I warned him that he would not keep up on his posts thus making the blog...BORING! I also told him at that time that I REFUSED to blog! Not that I am against it, but I do update facebook with the happenings of our life and didn't think I would have time to update a blog as well. Well, since Josh has jumped off of the blogging bandwagon, I have decided that I would post some funny conversations that I have had with Declan. I have posted these on facebook, but I wanted to "journal" them as well. Please enjoy! Love, Kyrie

December 4, 2009: Conversation between Declan and Grandma @ 8:30 last night: Grandma: "Happy Birthday little man. Sleep Good." Declan: "Thank you, but it's not my birhtday anymore."

January 12, 2010: Declan-Daddy spilled my gatorade when he stopped the car. Me-Oh, does that mean that I have blue gatorade all over my car? Declan-No, it's on my coat, so I can't go to school anymore. Me-It's OK buddy, I can wash it. Declan-No Mommy, it's ruined. I can't go to school!

January 14, 2010: Declan was getting off of the bus from his field trip yesterday, looked at the bus driver and said..."Oh, you do speak our language." Turns out the bus driver was caucasion. When I asked Declan what language he speaks (since he speaks english and is learning spanish) he looks at me and said..."Just the language of the house." I truly wonder what is going through his little mind!!!

January 20, 2010: Last night I was putting Lochlan to bed after his 10:00 bottle. Declan sat up in his bed, looked at me, and said, "I just gave him a nut." I asked, "Who did you give a nut to?", hopeing it wasn't Loch earlier in the day. He replied, "The Squirrel, I just gave him a nut." Then he laid back down and passed out!

February 5, 2010: Declan-"Mommy, you need a time out!" Me-" Oh PLEASE can I really have one?!?!" Look of confusion on the 4 years old face...PRICELESS!

February 10, 2010: While getting Declan ready for bed...2 hours after dinner! Declan- "Mommy, remember when I told you I ate all my chicken and I was a good boy?" Me-"Yes." Declan-"I didn't eat all my chicken mom. I gave some to Chewy and threw the rest in the garbage!" Declan:1...Kyrie: Nothin'

February 18, 2010: Last night it looked like Declan was snuggled in his blankets with his head under the pillow. When I went to kiss him, the blankets and pillows squished down. I go into my room and there is Declan, curled up in a ball on my bed. So I asked him this morning why he fell asleep in my bed, and he said, "I made it yook y...ike I was in my bed, but I wasn't!" <insert 4-year old giggle here> Sneaky little bugger!

March 5, 2010: Sent Declan to school in a really cute bright pink polo shirt (from the boys section!), he fought me all morning about putting it on him saying it was a girl shirt. When I got home from work, Josh informed me that the girls at school were teasing him so bad that he took it off while at school. Poor little guy, I hope I didn't scar him for life!!!

March 17, 2010: Me: Declan, I think a Leprechaun was in your room last night. Declan: No he wasn't. I made a shamrock. Me: Why don't you look and see what he did? Declan: Oh my gosh, mom! He left me a Buzz Lightyear and a green shirt! Me: See what happens when you make shamrocks? The Leprechaun becomes nice and leaves things instead... of takes them! And that's how a working mom celebrates St. Patrick's Day with her little man!!

March 29, 2010: Declan-"Mommy, soda is not beer." Me-"You're right, soda is not beer." Declan-"So, I can have beer since it's not soda!" Me-"Um...No, you cannot not have beer. It has alcohol." How does a 4 year old come up with this logic?!?!

April 12, 2010: Declan turned on the weather channel last night, just as it was talking about the tornado that went through Atlanta in 2008. He looks at me and says "Oh mom, we can't go there. Did you see how messy it is?" Yes...worry about the mess, don't focus on the freaking TORNADO!!!!

April 13, 2010: Declan-"Moooom (whiny voice)-this tooth-taste does NOT taste like bubble gum. You told a lie!"

April 26, 2010: Declan: "Mommy, girls toot and boys fart." (followed by Dec laughing hysterically!)

April 28, 2010: Taking Dec to bed last night: Declan-"Mommy, I am going to get rid of you." Me-"Dec, why would you want to get rid of me?" Declan-"Because you're a No Mom. You never let me do AnyHing and your making me go to bed. That makes me sad." Have I ever mentioned that Declan is a DRAMA KING when he's tired???

So, there you have it! Declan, my little twerp, in a nutshell!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/S-Ao1ROUYLI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/N8D44bI3Bd4/s320/Declan+Laughing.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467414843249418418" />

Sneaky Declan

Declan has shown lately that he is a very independent boy. It used to be that if he woke up before Josh and I, he would sneak into our room and crawl in bed with us, or do this creepy thing where he would stand by my side of the bed and stare at me until I woke up (let me tell you...I like the crawling in bed a ton more!). As of late, he has taken to going downstairs and putting on a DVD until Josh and I wake up. At first this worried me, but now it is not a huge deal.

A couple of Sunday's ago, I woke up and didn't hear a movie or a sound from Declan. So I thought maybe I had beaten him awake. I snuck into his room to see if he was still asleep and he wasn't there. I started walking down the stairs and I hear a quick slam and little feet running across the floor. When I got down the stairs, Declan was sitting on the couch looking very innocent. I said "Good Morning, Dude," to which he replied, "I didn't do it." I looked at him for a minute and then noticed that his eyes kept darting behind me. Slowly, I turned around at what did my eyes see...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/St96fL_djMI/AAAAAAAAAUI/EqePYT2e4wM/s320/paint+TV.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395165554826644674" />

Now, I know you all have seen this picture before. It has circulated over and over again with a tag line like "Do you really want kids?" I would giggle and delete it out of my mailbox thinking I would never have to deal with this situation. But on this particular Sunday...this is what my TV, Stand, and Floor looked like (along with little decorative swipes from the broom that Declan used to "sweep up" with.)

I very calmly turned around and asked Declan to go up to his bedroom. Declan took off like a shot up the stairs and threw himself onto his bed. I then started frantically cleaning up the mess before Josh woke up and saw what his "little buddy" did! After I got it all cleaned up (which wasn't an easy task) I realized I didn't take a picture of his masterpiece, but I assure you, this picture is pretty close to what I dealt with...of course it was just Declan and instead of paint he used ooey-gooey sunblock.

When Josh woke up he asked why Declan was being so quiet in his room. When I explained what had happened he just looked at me and laughed! We made sure we talked to Dec about the importance of doing what is right vs. doing what is wrong...and we also made sure we did not laugh within earshot of Declan, but Josh and I had a great laugh!

Have a good day!
Kyr

Dallas Cowboys vs. Denver Broncos 2009

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/StPLeif7E4I/AAAAAAAAATY/AYJKWAjw_jE/s320/Coin+Flip.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391876904409830274" />
October 4th 2009. The morning was brisk and pleasant. Perfect for Football. My friend Ryan Magaraci and myself road tripped it to Denver to see the Cowboys take on the Broncos. It was the first NFL game for both of us. Seeing our favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, made the trip even that much more AWESOME! Kyrie's cousin Scott and his wife Kalli let us stay at their apartment in Thornton, CO. That's about ten minutes out of Denver.

We arrived on Saturday evening and got settled in at Scott's apartment. Definitely pumped about the game we needed to let some of that energy out. So we got in on some Halo 3 on Xbox Live.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/StPQmVTJ8uI/AAAAAAAAATo/EwPbPTT6hYg/s320/Josh+at+the+Gate.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391882535863710434" />
Bright and early Sunday morning we got geared up in our Dallas swag and headed to the stadium. We were surprised to see how many Cowboy's fans there were. It made things a little more comfortable in enemy territory. After we were let into the stadium we went straight down to the field to check out the Cowboys warm up. It was great. I felt like a little kid all excited and giddy every time I saw a different Cowboy hit the field... Marion Barber, Jason Witten, Nick Folk, Tony Romo, Roy Williams, DeMarcus Ware, Miles Austin, and Keith Brooking.... I could go on and on and on.....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/StPQwxzezuI/AAAAAAAAATw/Rd8Pn2mbljE/s320/Ryan+at+the+Gate.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391882715314179810" />
Eventually we were corralled back to our seats for the start of the game. It was so much louder than any Utah Utes game I have ever been to.... The energy was incredible. It was a blast. Through most of the game Ryan and I were jeering and trash talking to the Denver fans around us. We had a lot of help from the other Dallas fans in our section too. Then the last five minutes of the fourth quarter arrived..... we had nothing. We stood there, just waiting for the Cowboys to punch it in the end zone and win this game.... but two incomplete passes to Sam Hurd and a kneel down by Kyle Orton and we were verbally harassed the entire way back to the car. Hard loss, but the trip was a lot of fun anyway.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/StPRAae3x5I/AAAAAAAAAT4/-kEiiRvruFo/s320/Go+Offense!.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391882983931627410" />
The ride home on the other hand...... We weren't looking forward to the seven hour drive because of the loss, but we could still talk about what WE would have done and how our Offensive play calling is so much better than any NFL Coach out there.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/StPRS-d7JfI/AAAAAAAAAUA/hqZ2w-nei_w/s320/Tony+Romo+and+Marion+Barber+in+the+backfield.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391883302828975602" />
At Rock Springs, WY we ran into some major highway issues. There was an accident on I-80 at Green River, WY that shut down the interstate. We sat in traffic for two and a half hours before we were forced off of at Green River. We drove through the town and onto a frontage road where we were able to get back on the road and head home again. The long ride and the fact that we encountered every possible weather type on that ride home kind of took our minds off of the loss.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/StPQRKzkPjI/AAAAAAAAATg/E7XROjYGd6w/s320/Accident+on+I-80+that+caused+our+drive+home+to+be+delayed.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391882172269608498" />
All and all the trip was great! He went from our little baby puppy to our 5 year old dog in what seems like overnight.

When Declan was born Chewy was very interested in this little bundle that had invaded his universe but couldn't figure out why the little bundle wasn't going away. Through the years, Chewy has learned that Declan is his play buddy and well as his best friend. Sure, he still loves Josh and me, but you can tell that there is quite the special "a boy and his dog" bond going on. I don't think Chewy enjoys some of the wrestling moves that Declan puts on him, but nevertheless Chewy still comes back for more!

Now that Lochlan had arrived we have thrown off his universe all over again!

Today, Chewy and I had quite the morning! Chewy is very good at getting up with me during night time feedings, I think he thinks I need the company. For the past couple of days Lochlan has been spitting up after he eats, I am not one who is good with spit up but ya just gotta truck on! At 9:00 am I was feeding Lochlan, he burped twice, then finished his bottle. Lochlan is really hard to get that last burp out of (and that is the one that you have to get out!) so I did the "lap burp" trick. Let's just say I got that last burp...and then some! Chewy happened to be sitting right under my feet and got puked on...and I mean all over!!! Chewy looked up at me with that "What the Heck" look. I wiped the baby down, laid him on his blanket, and then started chasing Chewy all over the house. When I would get near him, he would start shaking and run some more. So I spent most of the morning cleaning baby puke off of me, the baby, the dog, Declan, and my walls and furniture. Chewy didn't hold a grudge though, after everything was cleaned up, Chewy laid down on the blanket with Lochlan and Declan.

Love, Kyrs

Stay at Home CRAZINESS!!!

I know that it is Josh's job to keep this updated but it seems that as of late, he has dropped the ball...again! So, here I am telling you about the struggles of being home...alone!

As most of you know, I HATE being home alone. I think this hatred stems from growing up watching horror movies with Dad and Brit (thanks guys). I must have quite the imagination because sometimes I think I hear people breaking in, even in the middle of the day, or I think some sort of natural disaster is going to happen...like a freak tornado...or sometimes I hear razor sharp gloved fingers scraping against the furnace (YIKES)! Needless to say, I have been having quite the time being home on maternity. Can't wait til Josh gets home from work! Wish me luck on not getting eaten by the boogeyman!

Love, Kyrs

Papa's New Babies

Papa recently aquired two new family members, Polly and Ann (they are named after my grandma)! Although Tiger wasn't in the mix the three of us sported the RED apparel. I have been consistent and slowly getting my game in tune... for me. It was the first time Hy had been out in almost a year and a half. I have to say I was impressed, not only with how well he was playing after such a long stint away from the tees, but of his calm approach to the game this time. If you have ever played golf with Hy, his frustrations usually don't stay in the bag... But he held his head and played pretty well. Stu, as usual, played well and had a pretty consistent round.
Beside the two holes we each destroyed the round was very fun.

I have to say, and I know Stu would agree with me when I say, "I stole his game on Friday." Stu, as any of our close friends know.... usually wins...
BUT NOT ON FRIDAY!!! HA HA HA!

I beat him by one stroke and Hy was back just four strokes to finish up the day.
Definitely want to do it again guys! It was a lot of fun. D-Man!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 158px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SoRtCrOkV2I/AAAAAAAAAQg/UUmgh7TETL0/s200/Declan+Yelling.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369536548463466338" />
He yelled to his mom, "What are you doing to my baby, mommy?"
"Why are you having him cry? I don't want him to cry!"
Kyrie, holding in the laughter, tells Declan "Your baby brother is hungery, I am going to feed him."
"Can I help feed him? I want to burp him. I will show you how to burp him."
Kyrie replies, "No buddy, you ned to go back to bed ok."
Declan says... and this is the touchy feely part....
(Picture Puss in Boots giving those kitty eyes)
"But mommy, my baby needs me."
At this point I have woken up and become the bad guy.... I pick up Declan and take him back to his room. All the while Declan was saying, "No no no, I want to be in your room with my baby."
As heartbreaking as it was it would be a day full of bad attitudes and timeouts if I didn't get him to sleep.... Within five minutes his whining was over and he was out cold.
Let's see if the brotherly love can last..... the jealousy monster has been kept at bay for now, and hopefully we can keep it caged.

No more pokes, no more tears!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SoCzW9QHUBI/AAAAAAAAAQI/OM-Jsg1iv6w/s320/ouch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368487962806276114" />
We took Lochlan to the doctor today for what we hoped would be his last biliruben check. The little man handles the poke well, but the squeezing of his little foot doesn't go over very well. The results came back and he was at a level of 11.2 which, for his age.... 7 days old, is low enough that he no longer needs to be checked.
It was a relief to know that he was as healthy as he can be. Next week is his two week well child check up and immunizations appointment. We are definitely looking forward to that one...
On a more sad note... my day did start with some unexpected and very sad news.... A few of my close friends and relatives, (Matt and most recently Hy), will share in my sadness...
Declan came into Kyrie and My bedroom this morning, his usual chipper self. Which I might add is not a trait he received from me. Never in my entire life have I been a happy, alert, and generally in a good mood before the hour of six a.m......
Anyway, he bounces into our room holding one of "his movies" and asks his mommy if he can watch it in our room.... his mother, still exhausted from the nights up and downs, trade offs with myself on the feedings and cuddlings of Lochlan... replies... please go downstairs and watch it on the big TV. Declan says but.. but.. but the green light is red.
To which I abruptly awoke and asked... "What was that buddy?"
Declan said "I pushed the big button and it wasn't green, it was red."
A few choice words slipped out and I urgently took myself downstairs to my Television and Xbox....
You know those times when you know something will turn out how you DON'T want it to... but you keep repeating to yourself.... "Everything's good, everything's cool."
Everything was not cool. When I pushed the power button on my Xbox "THE RED RINGS OF DEATH" stared me in the face, as if to say... YOUR WORLD IS OVER!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SoC9QKD4wQI/AAAAAAAAAQY/BaSY9jop5po/s200/red+ring+of+death.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368498841101844738" />
Well, it isn't that dramatic, but I was in the middle of my first season of NCAA College Basketball, and I was doing rather well. (sigh) Needless to say, I am without the childish entertainment every adult male enjoys...... video games. It's a real good thing I have two very entertaining young kids to take up my time. Much better than any video game ever could be.

Adjusting to a full(er) house.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/Sn4meUHkY9I/AAAAAAAAAPw/lkjOfY8envA/s320/going+home.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367770108110595026" />

Coming home from the hospital yesterday was an exciting feeling, not too mention a relief that we were able to do so under a weeks time from the little guy's birth. Those of you that remember Declan's extended stay in the NICU will also appreciate the timely exit from the hospital as well.

Now for the fun part..... sleepless nights and getting all the household tenants acclimated to the new arrival. It hasn't been too difficult getting Delcan excited and happy about his little brother. He is definitely a helping hand... or two. He really does want to be involved in everything "baby." Especially Lochlan's swing.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/Sn4m2A3Bb1I/AAAAAAAAAP4/HWtNEriBb58/s320/CIMG0634.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367770515257782098" />

Chewy..... oh Chewy. I was actually a little worried about bringing the baby home to the dog, not because I was worried about him mauling Lochlan or anything like that, but I wasn't sure how he would take to another attention seeking, eventual ear tugging, tail pulling, rough housing, food spilling, water dumping, noise maker. To my surprise, Chewy didn't seem to be too surprised or put off at all by the little guy. A couple sniffs and a walk around the car seat was all I got out of my fierce and protective guard dog. After that it was like Lochlan had been there just as long as Declan.

What will be an adjustment I will REALLY need to work on..... The getting up in the middle of the night for multiple feedings. No excuses here, it's just that sleeping always seems so far away and unreachable when you aren't able to get it.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/Sn4oHE3LIaI/AAAAAAAAAQA/u9paCtCOw60/s320/CIMG0581.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367771907901563298" />

Anyway, It was a real shock to both Kyrie and I's system to go from a full night sleep to up every hour.... You remember it from the first child... but you don't REMEMBER IT.

No worries though from here on out it will be the pitter patter of co-conspirator little feet.....

Lochlan Edward Wehner

6 pounds 12 ounces.. 19 1/2 inches long

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnHPwK5qaI/AAAAAAAAAN4/k2wesuVBeyw/s320/Lochlan.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366539504431245730" />
I guess the 3rd of August started off like any other Monday morning....Get up much earlier than I wanted to so I can get to work on time, shower, dress, and its off to work I go. About two hours into my "busy" day and I get a phone call. Kyrie hadn't been feeling all that well and was complaining of some pain on her left side. I left work and took her to her doctor's office. He ran some tests, performed some.. eh hem.... checks.... and tests... but couldn't find a likely cause of the pain. He immediately had me take her up to McKay-Dee Medical Center to be "observed."
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnGd0vVHNI/AAAAAAAAANo/7TInQe8ge7I/s320/cute+sleeping+little+guuy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366538646664322258" />
It's funny how observing someone involves a lot of interactions, physical probing, and the need for multiple nurses to insert an IV line into her arm..... but observed they did. She was sent for a kidney ultrasound (there is an actual medical term for the type of ultrasound she got, but I am neither Stuart or Tiffany so the name escapes my memory.... so it was a kidney ultrasound). Love you guys..... lol.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnG7E90ysI/AAAAAAAAANw/ecJaE5jcPe0/s320/Declan+looking+into+the+nursery.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366539149236292290" />
after all the "observing" her doctor decided that it would be best for Kyrie and the baby to go ahead and perform the Cesarean section that day.... and within the next two hours of that decision we were on our way to the operating room. It was a little more nerve racking for Kyrie this go around.. for some reason walking into YOUR operating room on under your own power has a little more effect on the psyche than being wheeled in on your bed while being doped up so much your legs feel like they no longer exist. Needless to say Kyrs was nervous. After the doctors had stopped arguing over the type of music they wanted to listen to in the operating room, things got serious and the procedure began.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 241px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnHf2jCEEI/AAAAAAAAAOA/HWq12kJaPkw/s320/opening+his+eyes+for+the+first+picture.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366539781020979266" />
I, being the supporting husband that I am.... held the vomit pouch for Kyrie. This, though less beautiful and spectacular than the birth of a child is in fact an important role while doing the c-section. Everything went smoothly during surgery, and while they tied Kyrie's tubes and patched her up I went along to watch the nurses check Lochlan's vitals and get him cleaned up. He did great despite the suction tubes down the throat and up the nose. It really is hard to watch them handle this newly born infant as "rough" as they do. I know they are careful and know what they are doing....but still.... rough to watch as the new daddy.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 241px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnH8bEaSWI/AAAAAAAAAOI/xqVI8HEood0/s320/prebath.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366540271860992354" />
After the circus out by the nursery settled down they took Kyrie into her postpartum room and shortly after brought little Lochlan in. I am very happy to say that the little guy had no need for reservations with the NICU, and has had first class care up at McKay-Dee Medical Center.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnIL_5BMBI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/r0ocP5AsXyI/s320/proud+mommy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366540539443359762" />
We are very happy to have this brand new addition to our family. His older brother, THE BIG BROTHER, Declan has been very excited and just a big helper with his little brother. It is very cute to see how curious and excited, not too mention protective of his little brother declan is. I think he will take on the older brother role very easily.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SnnIeeFRYcI/AAAAAAAAAOY/Le1YwYdKOaI/s320/Kisses+from+my+brother.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366540856785461698" />
We appreciate all the visitors and phone calls. The
name we have tentatively settled on is that of Lochlan Edward Wehner.
I think my grandpa would have liked it. Other than that, Kyrie still
struggles with the little guy keeping keeping her up a lot at night, kicking and rolling away inside her tummy. Declan is getting more and more curious
about "his" baby. I will be adding some more posts soon. I PROMISE!
Thanks for staying caught up on what we are doing... not like its been too difficult right.

Until the next time.

Wow. Josh has really dropped the ball!!!

So my wonderful blogging husband has dropped the ball on blogging. I will let him know that he needs to post the cute Christmas and birthday pictures of Declan!

Well, we have had an eventful New Year so far.

Declan will be going on his first field trip! He is so excited! I am going to go and chaperon him and his friends at the treehouse museum. Since I got a new spiffy camera for Christmas I will take some pictures and post them after the event!

Introducing...BABY WEHNER!!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SW0PkY_qNFI/AAAAAAAAAMI/sJEG9zFdaSk/s320/ultrasound.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5290902255089366098" />

Baby Wehner is due on August 25th! I have been pretty sick but luckily I have two really cute boys to take care of me! Declan keeps calling the baby "Mr. Ghost". I'm not sure how I feel about that name, but luckily he isn't pressing the "Cody" name anymore! Our friends, Matt and Amber, had their baby last Thursday. When we left the hospital Josh told me that he is so excited for our little baby!

That's probably the most new and exciting thing that has happened in out neck of the woods!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joshandkyrie.blogspot.com/2009/01/wow-josh-has-really-dropped-ball.html' title='Wow. He wants me to spill all of my "Kyrieisms" here for you to take and hold against me for the rest of my life. Right, Josh. That's exactly what I am going to do! So, since I am such a nice wife I will comprimise and admit a few things that I don't think Josh knows about me! Here it goes:

1- I HATE that Josh makes me watch disaster shows...like I'm not scared enough!
2- I have "dutch ovened" Josh in his sleep! (Paybacks baby!)
3- I like to call Josh, JT, because I know it makes him angry!
4- Josh makes me laugh daily...sometime he doesn't mean to, he just has a "moment"
5- I have married my best friend and the person who truly does complete me!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3_fsZ4LKOsE/SRefFacYJoI/AAAAAAAAAKI/dXweL2VhFAk/s320/heart+picture.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266853204579591810" />

Josh posted that he writes poetry. Why? Well, our little survey didn't help but our little man, Declan has created a little... well.....interesting development.

The other day Kyrie came to me and told me that Declan was having a conversation in his room with what he says is "the baby." Kyrie asked what baby? To which he replied, "It is my baby bruver." Kyrie asked if his baby brother had a name and Dec said "Cody." I chalked this story up to Kyrie using the little guy as a scapegoat for her wanting to convince me that we should get pregnant...... Well...

Today I was checking my email, and Declan was chit chatting in his room. I peaked in and he was looking in the direction of his bed. I asked who he was talking to and he said "The baby by my bed." When I heard him say this I had one of those slow-motion, in the movies, kind of head turn toward his bed, you know, kind of expecting to see some kind of misshapen little zombie remains of a dead kid, more freakish than sixth sense but if Haley Joel Osmond can see dead people why not Declan, right?

Well, there was no walking dead kid in Dec's room, but he said that the "baby's name" is Cody. Kind of messed up but Kyrie is convinced that there is a little one up in heaven waiting for us.... I have a few other theories myself... Here they are... and Please, feel free to weigh in on what you think....

1. Declan has officially, mentally, and psychologically gone out of his little two year old mind.

2. He has developed an over active imagination and has his first imaginary friend, not too unusual.

3. There is a ghost baby living in my son's bedroom waiting for the perfect moment to turn on him, us, and the dog and straight-up possess our souls or murder us in our sleep..... can anyone say REDRUM?

4. He heard the name Cody and like it so he has named one of his stuffed animals Cody, and as adults and parents, we just "don't get it."

Well, that is the latest.... interesting..... goings on at the Wehner house. Definitely not a dull moment. God I love my kid!

Brit and I are AMAZING!!!

Yesterday was an event! I begged Brit to ride home with me from work so I wouldn't be lonely during the rush hour commute. She reluctantly accepted and we were on our way! I got on I-215 from 201 and was cruising along chatting with Brit when my car made this funny "thunk". We looked at each other and around where we were at to see if I maybe ran something over, but we didn't see anything so we kept on truckin'! A few minutes later I was up to my freeway speed and my car all of the sudden sounded like I was dragging a dead body behind it.

Brit's Reaction: "Oh my heck, Pull Over, Pull Over....you're not over far enough....Kyrie get over more....now you're too far over."
Kyrie's Reaction: "What is that noise?" So I took my foot off of the gas and started to get over.

We pull over and yes, my tire was blown. So then the adventure really begins! We get out of the car (Both of us in High Heels) and research the damage. I tend to carry a lot of "treasures" in my trunk, which normally isn't a problem until you blow a tire and need to get to the spare. So, Brit and I were on the side of I-215, in heels, unpacking my trunk, and then trying to get the dang tire out! Brit and I are both short, so when we did get to the tire, it was really hard for us to get it out of the trunk! With that we were on our way to being "fix-it" girls.

My dad made it a point to teach Brit and I how to change a tire (we can do oil too!) when we were little. What he failed to do was teach us that there are other types of jacks, not just the pump up and down kind. So for the next 10-15 minutes Brit and I are trying to get the handle on the jack to release so we can get this stupid tire on. Cars keep going by, a few Highway Patrol cars go by, and the next thing we know we're getting honked at...by our mom!!! (She recognized us from my orange heels!) At this point, Brit and I are both on our cell phones trying to get a hold of someone, mom has pulled over about 200 yards ahead of us, and we don't know weather to laugh or cry! For the record, we called: Josh (who was in Ogden picking up Declan), Mike (who didn't answer), Stephen and Lance (who were both gone for the day), and Ryan (who picked up his phone, said, "Obviously I'm at work. Call me later." then hung up).

Just when mom calls to see if we are all right a scary beater white truck pulls over to help us. His plates were from California (thanks all you nice Utah drivers for just passing us!!) and he was a very tired looking old man. As soon as he pulled over another SUV pulls behind us (Wow! 20 minutes later and we finally get 2 strangers!!) Any who, the SUV leaves because the little old man told him too, and he continues to change our tire. After another 15 minutes we were on our way!

I dropped Brit off at home, where she chewed Mike out for not answering his phone. And I continued the adventure all the way to Big-O tires in Layton (off of main!) My dad tells me to take the car there and tell them that "Wayne Sent Me." So that is what I did. The next thing I know is the guys are looking at me like I am some crazy person and ask me who Wayne is and why they should know them. At this time the water works were about to start and I just stared blankly at them. Finally, they said, "We're just kidding! Your dad already called to tell us you were coming!" It took all that I had not to cry, swear, or throw a jack. Good thing they admitted to the joke then! They fixed my tire in record time (actually I had to get a new one...but who's counting!) and then I finally made it home to Josh and Declan!

The End!

California Dreamin'!

Well, we are back from our week long vacation in California. We were able to squeeze a lot of fun into seven days. We left Utah early on the morning of the 13th and DROVE to Parumph, Nevada, which is really really hot! After a night in Nevada we continued onto California.

Day 1: Was spent at California Adventure. Some of the family favorites were the Hollywood Tower of Terror, Soarin' over California, and Mickey Mouse Playhouse. Declan was particularly fond of Mickey's Playhouse. After California Adventure we went to Medieval Times for a Birthday Dinner since it was my (Josh) birthday, September 15. The show was fun and entertaining. Being able to cheer for our knight and boo the bad guy was really fun. It was a great day to end the day.

Day 2: We headed over to Sea World. The morning was overcast and pretty chilly from the breeze off the coast. As the day went on the sun came out and it became a very nice day. The attractions at Sea World were great. Declan had a great time in Elmo's Playground, which had rides and water toys. Some of the other shows and exhibits that everyone enjoyed were THE SHARK Exhibit, Shamu's show, Petting the Sting Rays, Seal and Otter show, The Pets Rule Show, and The Dolphin Show. Also.... even though we all wanted to get some sun..... we got a little too much sun.... Burnt crispy.

Day 3: We finally got over to Disney Land. On this day, Declan was really excited to see Mickey and get his Mickey Ears. He asked me, "Daddy can I have Mickey Ears, Please?" So of course we went straight to the Ear store and let him pick out his ears... I thought they were a good choice. I know his uncle Hy and Emmy will love them too.

After we got his ears it was time to meet the Characters.... He was a little shy at first but he warmed up quick, a few of his favorite characters were Mickey (of course), Pluto, Goofy, and Chip.

Toon Town was by far Declan's favorite place in Disney Land. He was able to let loose and run around like little kids should. After a long day of character hunting, rides, and walking through the hot sun it was time to crash so we could prep for Universal Studios the next day.

Day 4: Universal Studios. Universal was pretty cool, although, it wasn't very kid friendly. Declan had to sit out on a lot of the rides. He did get to see the Shrek 4D Movie, interact with a lot of his favorite characters, Shrek, Donkey, Sponge Bob, and Curious George. There was a water area that had a rocket ship and huge buckets that would soak anyone in the area. It was a very fun and entertaining place to watch people get wet.

The Jurassic Park and Mummy rides were pretty cool and very fun. Another really awesome ride was the Simpson's ride. I recommend this ride to anyone that goes to Universal Studios. The back lot tour was pretty interesting as well.

Day 5: The final day of Disney Land. On Friday, Wayne, Cheryl, and Mike all kind of pooped out on us and stayed at the Hotel while Kyrie, Brit, Declan, and I went to Disney Land. We spent a long 13 hours on the park that day.... makes for a Mickey overload. Declan ended up crashing mid-day and definitely gained a second wind. The last day of our Disney Adventure and it ended with a bang. The fireworks display was amazing.

I know this post is really really long, but it was a long week. While at work someone had said, "You know what Thursday is don't you?" to which someone else replied, "Just another day." I hear this, and I know we all want it to just be another day, but it's not. It is the day in our lives, much like Pearl Harbor rocked our parents and grandparents, that we were scared. We were worried for our families, our friends, and our neighbors. I don't think we should just put this day up on the shelf, bind it between two covers and forget about it.... we NEED to remember it.

I know, much like everyone else, I can tell you exactly what I was doing, where I was, who I was with, and how I reacted when I saw those planes fly into the World Trade Center Towers. New York City, and the rest of the nation, with our diverse and independent way of thinking, became one. We all were on the same level, we became equal in the eyes of every other American, and not because we saw the same thing on television that morning, not because we were standing one block away from the eventual ground zero. We became united, because we are fellow AMERICANS. The land of the free and the home of the brave had just become much more vulnerable. We needed each other, through prayer, comfort, and the idea that we were ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

I also want to address those that think the whole idea of 9/11 was a government conspiracy.

ARE YOU INSANE!?!

Really? Why would any government, especially that of the greatest nation in the world, want to invoke fear and tragedy into the lives of their own citizens? Answer... They wouldn't. Please, instead of putting your arrogant and hateful attitude toward an administration that was in the White House less than a year at the time of the attacks aside, and think about the men and women risking their lives for a more peaceful World, not to mention all the people that lost their lives and loved ones in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C. "That Day." Think of them and put your selfish ideals aside for one day... ONE DAY.... September 11, 2008; and be proud to be an American, and proud of the progress we are trying to make after such a devastating blow to our nations freedoms, security, and liberty.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joshandkyrie.blogspot.com/2008/09/9112001-still-remembering.html' title='9/11/2001.... So imagine my surprise when the following takes place while Josh is at work...

I was in the shower when my two year old came barging in and asked me where my "peep" was. I was MORTIFIED! Josh was at work and I didn't want to be the one to explain this to my son. So I told him that I didn't have a "peep." He asked again, "Mama, where's your peep go?" and again I said, "I don't have one because I am a girl and girls don't have peeps." He looked at me and said, "Well, what's hanging behind my peep?" Now, being the grown up mom that I am, I tried really hard not to show my embarrassment or that I thought this was funny, and I calmly told him that, "that's apart of your peep." Declan looked at me and finally said, "Oh, so you don't go potty like daddy."

I am so grateful to have gotten through that step of motherhood without scaring Declan or myself. However, the next time Dec has one of "those" questions...I'm calling Josh!

Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays bring us... Not just FOOTBALL season... FANTASY football season. For those of you unfamiliar with this less masculine and far more geeky version of the battle of the grid iron; it is the culmination of several sports freaks... what my brother-in-law so accurately refers to as cyber jocks, form a league, hold their own draft and use the success of their players each week to compete for points, bragging rights, in some cases money, and of course the title of FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPION.

It might seem like he is dazing off at church, or he isn't listening to a word you are saying..... well actuallyhe is dazing off and he has no idea what you are talking about. He is however, thinking about his lineups, trade deadlines, and waiver lists. Don't fault him for this vice, he is only a man.... and well.... If you really need to talk to him that bad, just wait until a commercial or Tuesday.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joshandkyrie.blogspot.com/2008/09/sundays-mondays-and-thursdays-bring-us.html' title='Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays bring us... Traffic gets a little backed up on U.S. 193 at Highway 89 every day around 3:00. Hill AFB shift change, school gets out, and every day traffic helps to congest this traffic light. As I am sitting in traffic just humming along to the radio.... when I say humming I really mean violently "singing" along in an awful off pitch, out of tone manner that would make the deaf tell me to shut the heck up..... but its my car and I can sing as terrible as I want.

Anyway, there I am karaokeing away and a black Hyundai is sitting between the south bound exit lane and the flow of traffic, headed to the north bound exit lane. The guy, mid thirties gives me the you just got busted singing smirk, and a raise of the fingers off his window seal. I wave hello...... and his car all of a sudden jerks forward about two feet. He had just been struck by another vehicle.... It seemed as if everything was OK. I pulled off to the side of the road to see if everyone was OK..... also to get that menacing good deed out of the way for this month.

As I was talking to the guy in the black Hyundai the driver of the other car, a silver Honda Civic walks up to the guys car...... I almost burst out laughing in her face. She was obviously not paying attention to the road from the... well... the mascara smeared up one of her eyes and side of her forehead. Seriously..... it was great. I could see that I was just in the way and of no real use in the situation anyhow, so I walked back to the Jeep to head on my way.... and another car, white, with a female driver, drives right into the back of the mascara woman's car. Now, not only is her front end smashed in, but the trunk is now located in her back seat. Her Civic has become much more compact. I laughed and laughed, got into the Jeep and headed home.

This little story has preceded my thought but offers some brief background into the reasoning behind it....

A car is many things, it is a transporter, it will take you to where you need to go.

A car can be used as a shelter from the elements and harsh mood swings of mother nature.

A car can be used as a substitute for things lacking in ones life... to compensate if I may.

A car is also a less popular, but realistic sign of stature even if we don't want to accept it.

BUT...

A car is not to be used as an all purpose, one stop shopping, I'll do my makeup, read a tabloid, talk on my cell phone, eat some fast food, and wash it all down with a diet coke AND DRIVE machine ...

A car is a weapon of somewhat mass destruction... Please please ... watch the road... please.

I am so proud!

What a surprise! I just adore my son and hubby and am so glad that he has gotten into the "blogging" spirit!
Love,
Kyrs

Declan being Daddy and Daddy being Declan

The other day Declan put on my shoes and started walking around the house

saying "I'm daddy, do what I am saying, I'm Daddy." So I took off my shirt and put it on him. Then I put his shirt on top my head and put his sandles on my big toes. I followed him around the house asking him what he wanted me to do. He kept saying, "I'm daddy, you're Declan, follow me Declan." It was very cute. Kyrie was such a proud mom. Too bad she didn't get a picture of me as Declan.
